EQUINE THERAPIST MEMBER OF EQUINE SHIATSU ASSOCIATION (tESA)

Because of my eternal love and passion for horses, I decided to follow my dream and become a shiatsu therapist for horses and their riders. My lifelong riding experience supports me to better understand the interaction between the horse and its rider. I am also certified to offer TECAR therapy, treating horses and dogs (athletes and non-athletes).

TREATMENTS

SHIATSU

Shiatsu is a Japanese practical therapy involving gentle rotations, stretches and pressure on acupuncture points that lie on meridians (energy pathways) that people and animals have throughout their body. It is a similar therapy to Acupuncture – but without the use of needles – that stimulates the “self-healing” abilities and facilitates the natural healing of the body. The art of Equine Shiatsu was introduced by Pamela Hannay, who began applying into horse work in the 1970’s.

TECAR THERAPY

TECAR Therapy has been proven important in the instrumental human physiotherapy. It is a form of combined contact diathermy and electrotherapy. TECAR is an electro-medical device that applies electromagnetic energy to biological tissue. This technology is widely used in sport horses’ treatment as well, because its very fast results and improvements can be seen during the first session. TECAR therapy is also recommended for preparation and muscle recovery of a horse before and after intensive training and close competitive engagements.
